QUANTO BUIO VEDE L'ACQUA
short film
2025 – in progress

Quanto buio vede l'acqua (How Much Darkness Water Sees) is a short film reflecting on the themes of pilgrimage, landscape, and the metamorphosis and transformative power of water. Written and directed by Olga Kozmanidze and Martina Marini Misterioso, it was filmed in the summer of 2025 in two national parks in the Italian region of Abruzzo, and produced under their patronage by Campo Ife and the Pescarabruzzo Foundation. Currently in post-production, the project is set to be released in 2026.

Martina is a contemporary pilgrim who travels upstream along a river to reach its source. She imagines her journey through dark periods as similar to that of the water streaming from underground: in the end, both should find their way toward the light. She wants to learn from  the water and asks for its help. At the point where they meet, Martina is finally regenerated. Meanwhile, crystallized into a glass droplet and left in the forest landscape, her tear transforms into a splash of water.
