My lineage

In the belly of the mountain, I met an invisible fish. She waved
And I marvelled at the pattern she left with her luminous tale.
"Behold", she said, "and recognize your lineage".

So, I looked, and I've seen in its infinite flashes my own seaweed spine ⌇
Undulating, pulsing, waving back to my ancestry.

From my tailbone a memory grew and caressed the ground.
The ground yawned: "Behold and recognize your lineage".

So I looked, and I saw the aeon-old tribe crawling the terrain,
Stirring and feeding on its moistures, carrying the brine within their bellies.

Humbled and muted from the immensity of the horde,
I stood there in awe. Still, I wanted to communicate how grateful I was
For their extensive locomotive rhymes
Resounding in my body’s future, present and past moves.
They buzzed: “Behold and recognize your lineage”

So I looked and I learnt from my innermost kin:
I should never again think or dance
As if I was alone on the path.
With patience, they taught me their language of gurgles and crawls,
And a song sung along with some water contained in the mouth.
