Imagined by Berlin-based and Russian-born performer/sound artist Olga Kozmanidze, Folga (pronounced FOHL-ga) is an intimate experiment in singing and songwriting. Simple melodies, dressed in exquisite sound design, recall heartfelt ballads of yesteryear - and reference the music of Lamb and the electronic productions of Fever Ray. The timeless and vulnerable voice of Folga is stripped of pretense, but realized in its sublime electronic potential. The digital here is profoundly human, augmenting the intimacy and immediacy of the vocal recordings through subtle inflection. The arrangements are produced by composer and sound designer, Constantin Chistyakov. Crafted with complex original and synthesised sounds, they shape a world in itself, rich in microscopic details. Quiet and reserved, the music seeks to communicate the profound feelings of experiencing revelation or encountering an overwhelming or ineffable beauty.
